about coach bec & be the fear

I am Bec Fear. I am a triathlete, full-time triathlon coach and personal trainer/strength coach with over a decade worth of experience. I am passionate about introducing beginners to the world of triathlon as well as helping ambitious middle of the pack athletes continue to improve their capabilities to achieve their personal sporting goals, whether that is a new personal best or reaching the world championship.

My favourite part of coaching is helping athletes move up in distance from completing sprint or Olympic distances up to finishing an IRONMAN70.3 or IRONMAN event. Similarly, for runners - helping them go from couch to running consistently and then finishing a 21.1km or 42.2km event.

I believe that anyone can be an athlete and achieve their triathlon dreams. Triathlon isn’t just about swimming, cycling, and running; it’s about building strength, stamina, flexibility, and mental toughness. My goal is to help you develop these skills through personalised training whilst increasing your physical limits and maintaining a focus on injury prevention, nutrition, and proper technique. As a triathlete myself, I understand the balance required between training and life, and I will work with you to help fit the training into your schedule.

When analyzing workouts, I use both the training data available as well as your workout comments to create a full picture of your training and ensure that you will arrive at the start line with your best chance for success on race day.

As a triathlete myself, I understand the balance required between training and life, and I will work with you to help fit the training into your schedule. IRONMAN and IRONMAN70.3 training can take up a lot of time and this needs to be balanced for you.

Be the Fear came about from a racing history of being in the middle-to-back-of-the-pack out of the water and having to chase down all my competitors throughout the bike and run. Thus becoming the fear that they don't have enough distance to outpace me before the finish line.

Be The Fear is also about overcoming your fears to be a stronger person and athlete. Fear is a natural part of growth. Be The Fear is about embracing the challenges, pushing through the discomfort, and knowing that every moment of fear is an opportunity to grow stronger. It's about facing what seems impossible and proving to yourself that you can do it.
